Objectives for the topic: Chemographics (plotting mineral formulas)
Reading: See syllabus
Images to understand: See syllabus
After completing this topic, the student will be able to:
- Portray a solid solution graphically as a line segment between endpoints.
- Plot specific compositions on such a line segment.
- Project ternary compositions onto this line segment, both graphically and numerically.
- Use ternary plotting paper to portray specific compositions that are intermediate among three end-members.
- Numerically project quaternary compositions onto this plane.
- Read intermediate compositions from points on a ternary plot.
