We will meet up in the parking lot outside the ES building at 8:00 am Sunday, 10/27, and hit the road soon thereafter. Because I haven’t heard back from the property owners, we won’t be going all the way to Lake Wenatchee. Instead, we have three places to visit, in this order, time and weather permitting:

1. Washington Pass (info at http://www.mineralnews.com/movies/WPMovies.htm).
2. Walker Valley: Quartz, Calcite, Hisingerite, other minerals in basalt
3. Blanchard Mountain: Stilpnomelane, Quartz, Chert in weakly metamorphosed sediments

I expect we will return around 4 pm or so.

What to bring:

• lunch (we’ll probably eat lunch at Washington Pass before heading back west to Walker Valley. There will not be soda machines or restaurants or markets)
• warm clothes, including a warm hat, gloves, and jacket
• rain gear (we’re going rain or shine)
• a rock hammer
• eye protection – no hammering with out it! Safety glasses can be obtained cheaply at any number of places in town, including Home Depot
• your hand lens!
• camera, binoculars, etc., if you wish
• a positive attitude
